Witnessing a Step Toward Marriage Equality in NJ

kirk-nina trenton lobbying copyThe Web Goddess and I journeyed to Trenton yesterday in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples.  (The picture makes me look fatter than I am.)

Pictured in the background is our priest, Father Bernie Poppe.  A Senate committee approved the bill, which is to be voted on by the full Senate on Thursday.

My account of yesterday’s events is at Maplewood Patch.  My previous blog post on this matter has touched off a lively debate in the comments.

  1. What? I thought that you were conservative! (note: I am with you on this one…if the gays want to make themselves as miserable as the rest of us, let them. 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for supporting this…. I appreciate it as my son is gay and I want him to have all the rights he is entitled to.

  3. Ollie, I'm conservative on fiscal and national security issues, but generally not on social issues. On same-sex marriage, I proudly stand to the left of our president.

Susie, thanks for the nice note, and for supporting your son. I'm convinced that full marriage equality is coming, I just don't know how long it will take. But interracial marriage was illegal in many states not that long ago, and such a thing is unthinkable now.

  4. You guys look terrific, per usual. 🙂 I thank you two, as well. The ban seems quite ridiculous. Love doesn't need boundaries, nor should it be legislated or banned.
